EFFECTS OF AMOUNT OF CO AND TI-COATED DIAMOND ON THE WEAR PROPERTIES OF SEGMENTS FOR GANGSAW BLADE IN NATURAL STONE CUTTING PROCESS

The aim of this study is to improve the wear properties of the segment, and the second is to seek a solution to the falling problem of the segment during natural stone processing. Many parameters affect the wear properties of the segment in natural stone cutting. In this study, effects of Co content and diamond type were investigated to improve wear properties. For this purpose, a total of 9 different segments were produced with three different Co amounts and diamond types (diamond-free, diamond and Ti-coated diamonds). 30 (K1), 50 (K2) and 100 (K3) vol% Co powder was added into the based matrix that is consisted of premixed (prealloyed (Fe -Cu-Sn) + Ni) powder. The sintering process was carried out at temperatures of 750 oC. Microstructural examinations of the produced segments were made. Hardness and wear tests under two different loads were performed and the wear surfaces were examined under a scanning electron microscope. At the end of the study, it was determined that the wear resistance was better in the segment produced by using Ti-coated diamond sintered at 750 oC in K3(Co-100) composition. The least amount of wear was obtained in this sample as 1.5 mg.
